Established in 2007, Novera Homes is an Ottawa-based custom homebuilder dedicated to quality craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. We work with architects, designers, and a trusted team of construction professionals to provide a personal, worry-free design-and-build process that culminates in a uniquely beautiful living space.

Our boutique size and intentionally limited number of concurrent projects allows us the time and space to fully get to know each of our clients and to understand all their requirements and lifestyle desires. Through continuous open communication, and a high-touch client service approach, we consistently deliver a seamless and respectful customer experience.

Our name, Novera, references the words “new” and “era,” reminding us every day of our commitment to deliver each and every custom home with an eye to excellence.

What makes you happiest?

Being with family and friends.

What’s your greatest extravagance?

I’m pretty conservative, but I occasionally dabble in fine single malt Scotch.

What talents would you most like to have?

I’d love to have the ability to be a professional soccer or hockey player, but the reality is, I’m doing exactly what I want to be doing. What’s important is that whatever you’re doing, you do it to the best of your abilities and always strive to be the best at it.

What design or architecture professionals would you love to have dinner with?

Any of the great Roman architects who established groundbreaking building methods.

What traits do you most appreciate in a building?

Uniqueness, quality finishings, and functionality.

What one building, anywhere in the world, would you most like to visit?

When I went to Rome, we ran out of time and didn’t get to the Sistine Chapel.

When you’re building a custom home, you need to trust that your building professional is a perfectionist. With 30 years’ experience in homebuilding and a background as a chartered professional accountant, Mike focuses in on project management, quality control, and, of course, keeping to a budget. “I make sure to explain every process and option,” he says. “And I’m also a quality-control freak.” Mike’s goal with every custom home is to exceed client expectations.
